It presents detailed information about the raw materials, producing companies and the legislation, regulating the brandy production in Armenia. Consumption, import and export tendencies on Armenian market, export markets expansion opportunities are also included in the study.

Global SPC within the framework of USAID EDMC project has developed an interactive map on customs procedures of the Republic of Armenia. It describes all import procedures and export procedures for agricultural and non-agricultural products.

The interactive map gives an opportunity to learn about the above mentioned procedures through a few basic and simplified steps. Each of these steps describes also the activities to be carried out by an importer or exporter. The description of procedures is given according to the current Customs legislation of Armenia as of September 1, 2013.


NOVEMBER 2013

Global SPC with support of the USAID/EDMC project has developed a user-friendly Guide for importers. The guide provides description of all domestic import procedures, all import associated fees and required documentation and their templates necessary for the importation of products into Armenia. It addresses also issues related to the importation by courier and mail services. The guide is illustrated with process maps and charts, clearly describing import procedure.

Upon request of the Ministries of Justice and Economy of RA and within the USAID/EDMC project Global SPC carried out a study on “Enforcing contracts in Armenia”, based on the methodology and questionnaire, developed by the World Bank’s “Doing business” project for the index “Contract enforcement”.

The report of the study represents the current legislation and practice on commercial contract enforcement in Armenia, including competent courts, handling disputes arising from contract breach, applying to court, court procedures and duration, order and duration of the enforced judicial act fulfillment, etc.

The report received positive assessment from the persons in charge of the Ministries of Justice and Economy of RA.

The Fourth of July, or Independence Day of the United States of America, is a federal holiday that celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The 237th anniversary of the independence of the United States was celebrated at the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan. “Global SPC” was one of the sponsors of the ceremony. The Ambassador John Heffern and Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed high esteem of the US-Armenian relations in their opening speeches.
The participants enjoyed country music by the Imagine Band group, and country dance performances by the choreographic ensemble Nane.

Global SPC developed the Mini “Investment Guide • Armenia 2013” (in English) for the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia in the framework of USAID/EDMC project.  It aims to provide brief information to foreign investors or trade partners about Armenian business and regulatory environment, investment climate, industry and customs system, etc.
The mini guide will be distributed to hotels, airlines and other organisations for making their clients aware about Armenian attractive business opportunities and favorable investment conditions.

Upon request of the Ministry of Justice of RA and within the USAID/EDMC project Global SPC carries out a study on “Enforcing contracts in Armenia”, based on the methodology and questionnaire, developed by the World Bank’s “Doing business” project for the index “Contract enforcement”. Preliminary results were presented during 3 workshops, held on 23, 30, 31 of May, 2013, and among the participants were the First Deputy Minister of Economy of RA K. Minasyan, Deputy Minister of Justice of RA A. Orbelyan, representatives of different concerned government agencies, private organizations and business and legal consulting companies, as well as private attorneys, lawyers, economists and financiers etc.

Workshop on impacts of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between the EU and Armenia took place in Yerevan on April 17, 2013 at Yerevan Golden Palace Hotel. The workshop was organized by Global SPC together with Ecorys (Netherlands) and CASE (Poland) companies.

During the conference the results of preliminary study on trade sustainability impact assessment initiated by the European Commission were presented. Moreover, the representatives of few sectors of great importance for Armenian economy, as well as in terms of DCFTA impact have presented their viewpoint on the issue.

Global SPC is proud to be the part of the international team conducting a trade sustainability impact assessment relating to the negotiations of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) between the EU and the Republic of Armenia together with Ecorys (The Netherlands) and CASE (Poland).

The objective of the study is to assess how the trade and trade-related provisions under negotiation could affect economic, social, and environmental issues in the EU and Armenia (as well as in other relevant countries, in particular neighboring developing countries). Furthermore, it should propose measures (trade or non-trade – the so-called ‘beyond the border’ dimension/issues) to maximize the benefits of the DCFTA and prevent or minimize potential negative impacts. It should also include a reference to the EU-Turkey Customs Union and assess the impact of the future DCFTA on the Customs Union's functioning.
